1. Candid vs. Posed Photos
Let's face it - the thought of fighting with small kids trying to make them smile at the camera does NOT sound fun. However, everyone needs one great family photo where everyone is looking so I spend the first 5 minutes or so capturing the perfect "everyone look at me and smile" pose. I like to call this the Grandma pose because we all know she is going to want a copy of this one!!
After that, it is a LOT of playing. I direct you throughout our entire session so you will never wonder what you should be doing, but everything will flow and feel natural. Your kiddos will enjoy getting to run and jump instead of having to stand super stiff and smile.
2. Wardrobe
Not only do I have a nice collection of dresses that Mom is welcome to use, but I have an amazing style guide to help you dress your entire family. I have found that this is the most stressful part for Moms during the whole process, so I am here to help! I am happy to meet you at my studio in Downtown Katy where you can try on my dresses and bring options for the rest of the family. I will talk you through it and help your family be 'Photo Ready'!
3. Location
I spend many hours driving around Katy and Cypress finding the perfect locations for your family photos. All of my locations reflect my style - earthy and natural. Open fields, lots of natural light, great trees, etc. You will be able to pick the location that is right for your family!
I am just a short drive from Brookshire and Sealy, TX. Just hop on i10 and come see me for your family portraits.
(Please note that I do not travel to other locations - this is because I know exactly what I am going to get each time at my locations: where the sun hits just right, etc to help you create the perfect family photos. My locations include Katy, Cypress and Tomball)
4. Simple and Easy Ordering
I keep my process very simple. You will receive your online gallery no more than 30 days after our session. You will pick your favorites (based on the package that you choose) and use your coupon code to check out. Then you get and email to download all of your family photos straight to your computer!

My background in photography dates all the way back to high school when I was developing film in the darkroom. There are so many wonderful photographers in the Katy and Cypress area! (many of them are my friends!) However, unlike a lot of photographers, I have narrowed my field down. I ONLY shoot maternity, newborn and family photos. This has allowed me to truly perfect my craft. I have very carefully learned how to pose Mamas for the most flattering angles, exactly what to tell Dads (they never know what to do with their hands! ha!!), and how to make you feel comfortable and confident.
2. I Provide Wardrobe.
Who wants to shop for clothes when you are 30+ weeks pregnant? No one. I have carefully selected a collection of high-end maternity dresses for you to wear. Each maternity session comes with complimentary use of any of my dresses. These are designed to make you look and feel your best!
3. I Have Amazing Locations.
This is a big one. My style is very natural. WIth that, comes very natural locations. I spend many hours scouting the perfect locations for our session. I love open fields, large trees, and tall grass! Being a Cypress Maternity Photographer, most of locations are in the Katy, TX and Cypress, TX area. I know when the light hits just right for that lovely golden glow! (I even have some great locations in Magnolia, TX for all the expecting Mamas in Magnolia!)
Not up for the Houston heat?! My lovely studio is located in quaint downtown Katy, TX. (it's only a 30-40 minute drive from both Sealy, TX and Magnolia, TX) It is filled with natural light and all the boho vibes you could ask for!
4. My Style is Unique.
I provide the perfect mix of posed and candid photos. I promise to give you direction throughout our entire session so that you never feel lost, and to give you cues to help us get the perfect, candid smiles! Light and Airy? That is definitely not me! haha! However, I do not consider myself a dark and moody photographer either. My style is somewhere in-between there. Raw...real...gorgeous golden glow sunsets, vibrant colors, and a true connection that shines through...that's my style!

Congrats, Mama! If you're here, chances are you are looking for photos of your new Babe or you are expecting a Little Bundle very soon. There are many wonderful newborn photographers in the Sealy and Brookshire area....so....Why choose Oak and Ember?
1. Experience
For the past 6 years, I have specialized in Maternity, Newborn, and Family Photos. Because I have narrowed down the kind of sessions that I shoot, I have been able to perfect the art of posing and working with new babies, mamas, siblings and even dads! (They never know where to put their hands!) Along with the experience comes insurance and ALL the baby safety and training courses that should always come with posing new babes.
2. Dedicated Studio
My quaint boho studio is located in Downtown Katy, TX. If you are in Brookshire or Sealy, it is just a short jump down i10 to get to me! (27 minutes from Sealy, to be exact) Many photographers work out of their home studios, but for me, I feel better about having a separate studio where my kiddos, pets, etc are not running around. With heavy COVID protocols in place (sanitizing, 48 hrs between sessions, limiting the number of people in and out of the studio, washing all wraps, etc) I am able to protect you and your little one much better.
3. Wardrobe
After having a baby, you will find that nothing fits right for a while. The last thing you will want to do is shop for something for a photoshoot! And let's be honest...there isn't a ton of shopping in Sealy. I provide many gorgeous dresses that you are welcome to use during your newborn session. My client closet is filled with flattering, flowy dresses that will help make you look and feel your best.
4. Style
My style consists of simple. neutral and natural family photos in combination with the ever adorable "baby in a bucket" poses. I mean, when can you ever put your kid in a bucket again?! For the family portion of photos, you will be able to choose from one of my more boho styles (shiplap wall or brick wall), or we can do more traditional posing on the paper background. I have several colors for you to choose from!
5. Price
While I am not "cheap", I am definitely one of the more affordable professional newborn photographers in the Brookshire and Sealy area. With me, you get the digitals from your package (which everyone wants!) and you have the option to order some amazing products, but there is no pressure to do so! I promise not to pull on your heart strings to sell you things or make you spend money you weren't planning on. I like to be upfront and honest from the beginning. Also, if you book a maternity session with me, you get 10% your newborn session! YAY!

I often receive emails from happy clients thanking me for directing them so well during the session. Nothing is more uncomfortable for families than when they are standing there waiting for a photographer to tell them what to do, and no one is taking control. I pride myself in being able to direct clients while still being able to capture those authentic moments. I promise that you will never be just standing around, trying to figure out what to do!
Here are a few things that you can expect when you come and see me.
1. THE "POSED" PHOTO
I usually have about 5 minutes at the beginning of the session to capture the "Look and me and smile" photo. While I pride myself on my authentic work, everyone needs 1 or 2 of these.
2. SNUGGLES
We will do a lot of this. "Tickle Mommy", "Run to Mommy and give her a huge hug", "Show me how much you love Daddy".
3. MOVEMENT
Children do not like to sit still. I capitalize on them running around. "Let's see who can run faster - you or your brother!" "What about Daddy? Can you beat him in a race?!" "Show me how high you can jump." Most parents prep their kids to sit still and smile at the camera - not with me! Tell them we are going to have some fun, and Adrienne will take some pictures of us playing!
4. DETAILS
The detail shots are what get me EVERY time as a mom. I NEED to capture their little hands, toes, curls.... these are the things that I need to remember, need to hold onto, and need to document. These go in a frame EVERY time.

Come enjoy the magic of Christmas with this adorable glitter session. This set-up if for 1-2 children only. If you have more than that, we can take their photos individually, but the space is not large enough to fit more than 2 kids at a time.

Because of this, once you choose your date and location, we will get you all set up with the perfect time. Here is my FAMILY GUIDE that will outline everything you need to know as well as my packages and pricing information.

***Payment in full is due when booking. Please choose wisely. There will be a $125 fee to reschedule (unless, of course, it's raining!) Your date and time is not secure until payment is made. Session times will be released 24 hours after invoice is sent and unpaid.

]]>It has been the season of FAMILY SESSIONS! The fall months are always the busiest because, let's face it, it's the only time when it isn't a million degrees outside in Houston. Plus, everyone is wanting to get the perfect photo for their Christmas card.
If you follow me on social media, you already know that my style is not super "posed". Of course, we always start out with "everyone look at the camera" stuff, but the magic really happens in between all of that. My sessions are FUN! There is a lot of playing, hugging, running, and laughing! I often hear that people are hesitant about family photos because they have young children who won't sit still...I say, BRING IT!!! The more movement the better! Crying? Totally fine. A month full of Cheerios? YES! Let's do it!

Hello there, Mama! If you are anything like me, you have a love/hate relationship with your bundle of joy getting bigger. I cried a combination of happy and sad tears each time my kids hit a new milestone.
Many people come to me wanting a 6 month session for their Little One. I always suggest waiting until Baby can sit up completely on their own. This is typically between 6 and 7 months of age. Once Baby can sit up on their own, we get such a great variety of photos with some great smiles! For these sessions, I like to keep things pretty simple with the main focus on Baby.
This is also a wonderful time to celebrate your special bond with your Baby. I love to use this time for a Mom and Me Session with some great milestone photos of Baby by themselves at the end.
These sweet Milestone Sitter Sessions are done in my studio located just West of Houston in Downtown Katy. I have a great collection of dresses for Mom to use as well as simple, timeless outfits for Baby. Please contact me with any questions you may have! I'd love to capture these moments for you.

I was scouting locations hundreds of miles away while I was still in Cypress, and was confident that I had found the perfect spot in Phoenix. Luckily, they put their faith in me and went along with all of my ideas - including wearing this awesome pink skirt! (Which I have in my CMP Closest for my clients to use) This was my first time meeting her fiancé, and he is just as great as she is. They are so sweet together, and I truly wanted to do my best and capture this exciting time in their lives.
I have to say....I am beyond thrilled with how these turned out! I hope they cherish these for many years to come. And I have officially decided to make Phoenix a once-a-year trip for photo sessions. Who wants to join me next year?! Haha!! - But really...

When I found out that this gorgeous mama was pregnant, I was beyond thrilled! However, my heart hurt because we live in different cities, and I knew that I wouldn't be able to capture all of the moments that I wanted to! So I was super excited when she asked me to come to San Antonio to do her Fresh 48 session. We did a ton of communicating, planning, and updating to make sure I would be ready at a moment's notice.
